Welcome to the Team, Noah Grondin!
NorthStar would like to welcome our newest staff member to the team! Noah Grondin, a graduate of the University of Maine at Orono, has been working in Western Maine for a number of years in educational roles with MSAD 44. In the fall of 2025, Noah joined the NorthStar team part-time as an Afterschool Educator. In April of 2026, Noah was officially hired as the MSAD 44 NorthStar 4-H High School Program Coordinator.

Noah will join Rose Goldberg in supporting the students, families, and staff of MSAD 44. He brings a wealth of experience in experiential education, outdoor recreation, and trip logistics. He also has a huge heart and an upbeat, fun energy.

We are so excited to have Noah as part of the NorthStar team!

The NorthStar 4-H Tanglewood team is led by Jessica Decke, Tanglewood 4-H Director; Melissa (Mel) Tracey-Torres, NorthStar 4-H Program Coordinator; and AmeriCorps member and Tanglewood alumnus Gideon Orestis. This is a rock star team, and they have already made a major impact on the youth they serve!

What began as a pilot program in western Maine has grown into a multi-county mentoring initiative that helps rural youth discover new opportunities through mentoring, afterschool programming, experiential learning, service, and outdoor adventure. We are excited to see this work expanding to new communities and grateful for the incredible partners, staff, volunteers, and families who make it possible.

๐ŸŒŸOxford Hills Peer Mentor Shout-out!๐ŸŒŸ

Huge Kudos to Lexie and Dom, who braved a crash course in learning by doing by coming out with our rowdy group of 7th graders this May.

They are helpful, kind, and most importantly, willing to jump in and give new things a try!

Thanks for helping out Lexie and Dom, we are excited to see what comes next for you!

๐ŸŒŸ Staff Spotlight: Rose Goldberg ๐ŸŒŸ

Itโ€™s a little overdue, but itโ€™s never too late to celebrate one of our own!

Just over a year ago, Rose Goldberg joined the NorthStar 4-H team as the NorthStar 4-H Coordinator serving students at Telstar Middle and High Schools. Since then, Rose has become an invaluable member of our team, bringing exceptional skills in logistical organization, urban navigation, wilderness trip leadership, and classroom management.

What stands out most is Rose's heart of gold, strong work ethic, and deep commitment to supporting young people. She also brings an incredible level of communication to her work, ensuring that school staff, volunteers, and families always feel informed, supported, and connected. Whether she is planning an adventure, mentoring students, or helping programs run smoothly behind the scenes, Rose approaches every challenge with dedication, compassion, and professionalism.

NorthStar 4-H is incredibly fortunate to have Rose on our team, and we are grateful for all she does to help rural youth thrive. Thank you, Rose, for an amazing first year and for the positive impact you make every day! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ€

๐ŸŽ“ Senior Spotlight: NorthStar 4-H Cohort #4

This past weekend, members of NorthStar 4-Hโ€™s Class of 2026 from crossed the stage and celebrated an important milestone.

Many of these students have been part of NorthStar 4-H Cohort #4 since 7th grade, with a few friends joining along the way as space allowed. For the past two years, Cohort #4 has been generously sponsored by , which has helped fund student travel to Canada.

This group has always stood out as responsible, mature, and hardworking. They were among the first to earn driverโ€™s licenses, secure community jobs, and gain real-world experience through Extended Learning Opportunities with local businesses. NorthStar members were awarded numerous college scholarships, as well as a Toolship Award from Region 9 Technical High School.

Cohort members are heading to UMaine Farmington to study education, Central Maine Community College for nursing, and UMaine Orono for computer sciences. The other half of this incredible crew will be staying connected to the Bethel area through careers in the trades and hospitality industry.

We are so proud of this group and their hard work, growth, and determination to succeed. Watching them grow from middle school students into capable young adults has been a privilege.

Your futures are bright. Welcome to adulthood and to the NorthStar 4-H alumni family! ๐Ÿ€
