It's been a beautiful summer on the rooftop. We're so grateful to have made our return this year and now we finish it off in style!

As is tradition, Labor Day weekend Saturday September 3rd is our season finale! We are closing it out with a monster lineup that includes the Bay Area's Dion Decibels, Brooklyn's own Nikki Antics, and the legendary DJ Misbehavior alongside Makossa residents Wonway Posibul & Shinobi Shaw will also be bringing their trademark rooftop heat! If you've ever been to our Labor Day finales you know the energy will be through the roof (pun intended) so come ready to MOVE!

We're excited to welcome The Pink Skillet this month supplying the cookout eats and also welcome back longtime Makossa photographer John Demato to capture your beautiful faces!

It's going to be a special one. Can't wait to see you and end summer right!

In addition to making sure Makossa branding and flyers are the best in the game, .cordero is also a filmmaker. The feature-length documentary he made with won grand prize at the !

Mikey has spent years documenting the culture and creatives in Puerto Rico who are fighting every day against imperialist power put in place to extract land, resources, and economic base from the island. There is a LOT of land speculation happening leading to gentrification and displacement. Schools have closed due to lack of funding. Blackouts are common because the utility was privatized but no needed improvements have been made. There are reasons folks say to not come here to visit or live because it’s “cheaper” - you are not helping the people. You are making a select few richer and possibly displacing people (air bnbs taking away from housing stock, food prices going up, etc.)

The Makossa Cookout “Leo Celebration” was a huge success. Thank you everyone who braved the sweltering heat on Saturday to party and hang out with us. We had some equipment overheating issues early on. Managed to sort all that out and give you guys a wonderful musical experience.
