I was born in the year of the Earth Horse (1978), so this Fire Horse year feels… loud in a good way. Last year I really went inward; a lot of hermit energy, finishing work, being quiet, building things behind the scenes. This year feels different. More sun. More movement. More being outside, being seen, letting things actually move forward.

The Fire Horse energy feels like passion, momentum, and heat. Things want to happen fast right now. And that’s exciting, especially when you’ve been working toward something for a long time. But I also keep thinking about balance. Too much sun and we all get a little sensitive, a little reactive. So I added water into this collage as a reminder to cool down, to rest, to take care while everything speeds up.

What I love is that even in all this fire, the retrogrades this year fall in water signs, little pauses, moments to breathe and recalibrate. It feels less like chaos and more like being guided: move forward, but don’t forget yourself along the way.

For me, this year feels like stepping out of the cave and into the light. Let’s see where it goes. 😅🙌🏽

I feel like I never show my a$$ and so there’s that! Lol And rest is a bits and bobs of moments with people I 💛 dearly.

Presenting the latest altar commission, this design came through conversation. Exploring family legacies, symbolisms and practice of living . 🕯️🧜🏾🥥🐙💙

The Kora here connects the moon and the moon goes into the ball of fire - the Sun, and from there into ocean and then back into body. The body is androgynous… the hair is purple and all this is in a loving embrace of the waves - that both bring flow as well as protection. Protection in form of wisdom. The ebb and flow, life and death - light and darkness, teaching us when to build and when to let go. And so it is. And there at the tip of the wave is illumination, the hope in the darkest of times.

Thank you to everyone who trust me to make something meaningful for their homes, their lives and loved ones. 🙏🏽🌻⚡️🐝🥥

Ase! With love! Gratitude 🙏🏽

Life lately has been a beautiful swirl of art, culture, love, and movement. ✨

Still floating from the Fashion Africana Gala in Pittsburgh, huge congratulations to my friend Sandra ( ), Demetria (), and Darnell on producing such an exuberant, world-class event. Thank you for having us. The grandeur of the venue, the attention to detail, the energy in the room… it was truly unforgettable. And it was a joy to see my friend Simon Frederick’s ( )work shining there as well.

In between, I found myself at the Met, taking in the legacy and evolution of Black fashion, how deeply it has shaped American style, and how powerful it is to see that influence honored on such a stage.
And of course… a slow walk through Central Park never disappoints. Caught my first ever live engagement in the wild (!) which made the whole evening feel even more cinematic.

Also…finally got to meet my friend’s baby girl in real life, and her tiny feet were impossibly soft. 🥹🩷

And then straight to Ecuador with my daughter (), reunited with my mother. More stories from that chapter coming soon. 🤍✨

This week in Pittsburgh was a masterclass in art, leadership, and love.

First, deep gratitude to Jessica Moss , founder of the Roll-Up Artists Residency. Watching her lead was honestly inspiring, soft but steady, present but never overbearing, juggling a hundred moving parts with ease. She created a space where every artist felt supported, seen, and given room to shine. The level of care she brought to every detail… it was exceptional.

And then DaRemen , the director and editor of the film, just him and a tripod created a full-length, beautifully paced, visually stunning piece that held a packed house completely engaged. The humor, the angles, the storytelling… he made something that truly honored the process and gave my daughter’s personality room to radiate.

And my daughter …watching her this week felt like witnessing my greatest creation moving through the world with grace, talent, and community-minded love. She’s soft yet commanding, humble yet self-honoring. The way she gathers people, the way she works, the way she gives ✨🙏🏽 I’m just so proud of the woman she is.

To Brianna whose words and presence touched me deeply.
To Harvey, whose saxophone added a whole new layer of beauty to the day.
To Elfrida , to Tierra, to Slim .oneil , and everyone who made this week feel warm, welcoming, and full of joy! thank you.

It was more than a mural and a film screening.
It was a community, a celebration, and a reminder of everything art can hold.
