Learning our true strength is something we continue our entire earthly lives. I choose to celebrate my journey and each lesson, regardless of the difficulty in the experience, or the sadness it causes in the process of learning. Long live the process!

Remain grateful for the cleansing process, despite the bumps and bruises it can bring. They heal, and the process leaves so much room open for new and wondrous experiences.

If you haven’t heard of Jay Shetty yet, your life is about to get a whole lot better.

I have even learned to have gratitude for grieving the loss of a loved one. How, you may wonder? Anyone can do it if they take into account that anyone for whom we mourn has made a significant impact on us. That type of special interaction is worth our gratitude. The fact that it is worthy of being missed is worthy of gratitude because the person and relationship were something I am grateful to have experienced. That includes everyone I know and love, or ever have. Each of you reading this, and those I have yet to know.

Visiting South Florida on my birthday was cathartic. First time in 17 years I had spent a birthday with family in my hometown. When it is most needed, I find that I get a lot of clarity by taking a look at where I am from the vantage point of where I came from. The 20 years I have spent in New York have shaped me, but the 22 in Miami that came before laid a foundation that is strong in love, rich in spirit, abundant in friendship, and overflowing with possibility.

Sometimes, I think we have forgotten what we celebrate during the Heritage of Pride events. When I was younger, going to pride meant taking a risk with your personal safety. At Stonewall, beatings, brutality and blood happened. In San Francisco Harvey Milk and Mayor Moscone died. In Wyoming, Matthew Sheppard was beaten and left tied to a fence-he also died. These people stood and fought, I saw people die, to allow us to march freely, to marry. To love as we love. That is my Heritage of Pride. What's yours?

"People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they’re not on your road doesn’t mean they’ve gotten lost."

-Dalai Lama

This statement by His Holiness the Dalai Lama comes to me at a time when i personally needed reminding of this simple principle: my journey need not follow the same path as another persons journey simply because it is what i WANT. Our journeys are individual and our pathways may meet and travel together again, or our work together may be complete. Bringing people together in matrimony is only a small part of what I am permitted under my Ordination. More importantly, I am tasked with offering pre-marital "counseling" sessions before I will agree to perform such a union. I have on occasion refused to perform the ceremony as a result of these sessions. Tonight, as I release the day to the Universe and begin preparations for a restful evening and refreshed tomorrow, I plan on meditating on this phrase and praying that its spirit and truth fill and enlighten my soul. To the persons who have gone off on their own journeys on pathways different from mine I can only offer the following wish:

"May your journey take you to wonders yet unimagined.
May your pathway be one of surprise and delight.
May Karma ever be your ally.
May you be open and receptive to the gratitude your soul has yet to experience.
And most importantly, may you learn to Love without boundary or prejudice, and receive boundless Love of all forms in return."

Joan Rivers

A prayer for the incomparable Mrs. Joan Rivers and her beloved family goes out today. There will never be another who brings your special sense of quirky joy and easy, honest laughter in this world. There must be a huge party at the Pearly Gates right now, because you are standing there making fun of the bad fashion as the new arrivals walk along the heavenly Red Carpet..."What's with all these wings and feathers? I just don't get it-we're not BIRDS!" I can hear you saying in my head. May you be welcomed home by a loving God with a smile on her face! Rest in Divine Peace, you heavenly creature!

So, fans and friends, I'm curious about trying a new fragrance. My top three (in no particular order) are currently:

-Bleu de Chanel-Chanel
-HM-Hannae Mori
-Play-Givenchy

So-with those in mind, do you guys have any suggestions for fragrances I should try? I tend to prefer fragrances that aren't readily identified because they're SOOO popular....

Any suggestions?

"Your parents may have forgotten you, your teachers may have neglected you, your siblings may be ashamed of you, but within reach of your prayers is the maker of the oceans. God! God is for you! Not 'may be.' Not 'has been.' Not 'was.' Not 'would be.' God is for you! At this moment. In this hour. No need to wait in line. No need to come back tomorrow. God is for you! God cannot be closer to you than he is at this very second. His loyalty will not increase if you are better nor lessen if you are worse. God is simply for you! Turn to the sidelines; that's God cheering your run. Look past the finishing line; that's God applauding your steps. Listen for him in the bleachers, shouting your name. Too tired to continue? He'll carry you. Too discouraged to fight? He'll pick you up. God is for you! If God had a calendar, your birthday would be circled. If he drove a car, your name would be on the bumper. If there is a tree in heaven, he would carve your name in the bark. And we know God has a tattoo, for Isaiah tells us (Isaiah 49:16) that God has written your name on his hand!"

Shared prayers went to John and RavenBeauty SoapDiva at church today. We were all so blessed to know Raven and share in the miracle that she was and continues to be for so many of us. Raven's journey and her discovery of the many blessings God had in store for her and her amazing gratitude for every day will remain as a testament to the power of love and the magnificent grace with which she confronted and overcame each and every challenge in this life stand as an example of just how great the human spirit is. I thank God that Raven came into this world, and that He saw fit to place us in each others' paths. I know she was welcomed home in the Kingdom of Heaven by a host of Angels led by her beloved mother. Though she is sorely missed here on Earth-her memory and the love we carry for her keeps her alive in our hearts.

Words to live by!

04/18/2014

Sometimes, God pulls us in a direction we would never willingly choose for ourselves. Robert's decision to end our relationship in silence and secrecy may not have been how I would have chosen to take that step (I would have chosen to try EVERYTHING possible to repair it-) but it was the right thing for us both. Our individual pain was only masked by the bandage we placed upon it. I put a Rob-shaped bandage on a Louise-shaped hole in my heart, and held so tightly to that temporary fix that it/he/I/we couldn't grow to full potential. The same was true for Robert placing me over a wound the looked suspiciously like his ex.

Today, I pray the Lord will give me the ability to learn to see clearly the actual issue at hand, and will prevent me from accepting substitutions in the future.

With regard to Robert-I pray the Lord will bless and keep him safe and lovingly wrapped in love and peace for the remainder of his days.

Amen.
