“My work explores memory, identity, and place through the lens of growing up Dominican in the Bronx. I’m interested in the everyday people, spaces, and moments that shape how we understand home and belonging.

Through painting, fashion, and material experimentation, I draw from family history, neighborhood landscapes, Dominican culture, and personal archives. I often focus on ordinary scenes and objects because they can hold larger stories about migration, community, nostalgia, and change.
My work is also influenced by the ways neighborhoods and cultural histories are preserved, transformed, or erased over time. By returning to familiar imagery and memories, I want to document the environments and experiences that shaped me while creating space for stories that are often overlooked.”

Guided by this intrigue, I create figurative mixed media collages to reflect the ways Black women and girls construct selfhood amid the cultural, political, and material conditions we experience. Working with contemporary and archival images and found materials, I explore the influences that shape and embolden our lives: the choices we make, the agency we claim, and the histories we hold.”

We are only three days away from the opening reception of Internal Anchor, taking place this Thursday, September 10th, 6pm-8pm Bronx River Art Center ✨🥳✨ This exhibition features 18 emerging visual artists working across film, traditional painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, and textiles. We are proud to announce our latest exhibition, “Internal Anchor”. This exhibition brings together 18 incredible New York City artists to explore one universal question: What keeps you grounded?

Through their work, they share the rituals, passions, and experiences that bring meaning and balance to their lives, despite the chaos and instability we face daily. We invite you to join us September 1Oth from 6pm - 8pm at The Bronx River Art Center as we proudly share this exhibit with the public. To attend please RSVP through the link in our bio.

Discover what anchors these artists, share what anchors you. Let’s find new ways to connect, create, and feel grounded together.

We will host several community workshops and events that focus on finding peace, joy, and connection. Join us tomorrow as we head to Central Park for a day of drawing, and end with lunch Meli Taqueria in Spanish Harlem ($15-$20 per person).

For our session tomorrow, supplies will be provided, but as always, feel free to bring your personal favorites. This session is open to all ages and skill levels.

Also, M. Ragernoir 👁✨🌙 who is an artist in residence at Longwood is hosting a dope Art card making workshop tomorrow on Governor’s Island as well. Another great reason to join us!
