Just finished THE GIRL WHO WALKED ON ICE by my fellow Cleveland author . It's truly chilling—and in more ways than one, given its winter-blasted setting on a fictional Lake Erie island which might remind Ohioans of Kelley's Island. The story immediately pulls you in with its ragtag community of islanders, each with their own unique voice, perspective, and secrets, which are gradually revealed as the story unfolds—clearly signaling Lewis’s expert storytelling ability. The “mystery box” remains mostly lidded, but cracked open just enough to keep you guessing while quietly propelling you through the well-paced story.
As more clues emerge, detailing a horrific event from the past (that I will not spoil) catching up with the present, the well-drawn characters find themselves increasingly in peril, facing a supernatural force capable of turning a serene Ohio getaway into a terrifying, winter-manipulating hellscape. The latter portion of the book takes many thrilling and terrifying turns. The scares are original and memorable, the characters believable in both their reactions and dispositions, and the setting itself is portrayed in loving detail by the author.
Part old-fashioned ghost story and part heart-pounding suspense, THE GIRL WHO WALKED ON ICE will chill you to the core—in a good way. Highly recommended.

Recovered evidence rarely tells the full story.

In 2021, a notebook was discovered near the Sand Run caves in the Cuyahoga Valley. Its pages were fragmented, disturbing, and filled with references to symbols, voices, and something buried deeper than memory.

The entries point to Gilbert Stanford, a man whose obsession with the past may have led him somewhere he could not return from. Some questions refuse to stay buried.

THE LOST DIARY OF GIL STANFORD reveals documents tied to what has become known as the "Towpath Case:" a collection of writings that suggest the past is not as distant as we might hope. And do not, under any circumstances, approach the Sand Run cave systems.

Having a dragon 🐉 problem? You need a DRAYGON. According to Wes, the artist, these relatively peaceful creatures will defend your domain in exchange for copious amounts of playing cards (which they hoard instead of treasure and riches). When a dragon encroaches your land, a draygon will meet the dragon head on, and manipulate the dragon into playing a card game (Poker is their go-to), and when a dragon inevitably accepts the challenge, they lose in spectacular fashion. In their spare time, draygons will play cards with each other, which is how they keep their card playing skills formidable and beyond the reach of their rival dragons. So, go get a draygon to protect yourself from dragons. A worthwhile investment that will only cost you a few decks of cards.
