I’ve started making these “chaos” geodes in my tie-dye and I love how they force me to trust the process. Uncertainty makes me uncomfy and I’ve been dyeing long enough that very little of the process makes me feel truly uncomfortable. But blindly tying up scrunches of fabric had really pulled me out of that comfort zone and I’m LOVING the results!! The “chaotic” pattern mirrors my anxiety in life and work 💜

What tie dyes the best? If you’re using fiber reactive dyes, the short answer is cellulose based fibers dye best. Color matters less than fiber content. Of course you want to keep the color lighter, as dark base colors will heavily mute your tie dyes. But having a white garment is NOT a deal breaker.

What cellulose fibers dye best?
- cotton
- rayon
- modal
- bamboo
- ramie
- viscose
- linen
- h**p
- lyocell
- tencel
- flax

Other natural animal fibers like silk and wool require different types of dyed and processing, so I wouldn’t recommend these for just starting out.
