Opening Reception: Saturday, October 18th, 11 am.-1 p.m. at the Faneuil Branch, Boston Public Library, Oak Square Brighton (with light refreshments at Br

ighton Branch site). Artists working in greater Boston are invited to participate in the 8th annual “Beyond the Book” juried artist’s book and collage exhibit at the Brighton & Faneuil Branches, Boston Public Library. This is an exhibition specifically of works of art in book- or book-like form (NOT an exhibition of books ABOUT art). The past six years’ shows have been highly successful, and have involved participation from hundreds of artists. We have fantastic artists’ receptions, educational and community programming, ample attendance, and even some sales. Submission and Delivery of Artwork: Submissions with completed applications and fees must be received at the Faneuil Library or on-line through paypal on the Faneuil Library page by Tues. Payment can be in cash, on-line via PayPal or by check payable to Friends of the Faneuil Library. Artists may submit up to three (3) works for review. Up to three pieces of artwork can be submitted. Slides, photographs, digital images, and original artwork will be accepted for review. Submissions should be made during library hours in person or by mail, or images and support material can be submitted via email to allstonbookart.com. Notification: Artists will be notified of acceptance by Fri., Oct. 10th. If art is accepted from photos, or digital files, the original artwork must be delivered to the library before 8 pm. Artwork that is not accepted should be retrieved during normal library hours on or before the opening reception on Saturday, October 18th. Presentation of Artwork Two-dimensional wall art must be framed and fitted with picture wire or otherwise ready for hanging. Book art must be suitable for placement on walls or inside locked cases, and will need to be arranged accordingly with permission of the artist. We reserve the right to exclude artwork that is not properly prepared for presentation. Exhibit Details The exhibit will be judged by guest juror Carol Rabe, Visual Art program director at Pine Manor College. Both the guest juror and staff librarians will be acknowledging work of exceptional quality through Distinctive Merit awards. Sale of Artwork Artists are asked to handle sales directly; a contribution to Friends of the Faneuil Library is welcomed. Return of Artwork: Artists are asked to retrieve works from the Faneuil Library on Mon., Dec. 8thth and Tues., Dec. 9th during normal library hours.
