HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE!

We are incredibly proud to officially announce Iyaba Ibo Mandingo as the City of Bridgeport’s first Poet Laureate!

This historic appointment celebrates Bridgeport’s rich literary legacy, vibrant creative community, and the power of poetry to give voice to our stories, our experiences, and our city.

Throughout the selection process, Iyaba demonstrated not only extraordinary artistry, but a deep commitment to community, youth, storytelling, and using poetry and art as a tool for connection and transformation.

As Poet Laureate, he will serve as a literary ambassador for Bridgeport, bringing poetry into new spaces, uplifting local voices, engaging our young people, and helping us imagine what is possible through written and spoken word.

We are excited for the vision, passion, and creativity he will bring to this historic role.

Please join us in congratulating Iyaba Ibo Mandingo, Bridgeport’s inaugural City Poet Laureate! Iyaba's official term will begin on January 1, 2027

This is only the beginning. Stay tuned for details about his official celebration and upcoming programming.

Peace, Family!
We would greatly apprecilove your support in helping us spread the word about an exciting new project.

Puppets Village is my ode to the visionary work of Jim Henson and the lasting impact he made through Sesame Street. Inspired by his commitment to educating, entertaining, and uplifting children, Puppets Village brings African and Caribbean folklore, storytelling, music, creativity, and positive life lessons to a new generation.

Two weeks ago, we successfully filmed the very first episode of Puppets Village, and we are excited to announce that our goal is to complete a full season of eight episodes. We look forward to sharing this journey with you and presenting the series for your viewing pleasure later this year.

Your support means everything. By sharing this post with your family, friends, schools, community organizations, and social networks, you help us bring these stories, characters, and cultural traditions to children and families everywhere.

Thank you for believing in the power of storytelling, imagination, and community.
Welcome to Puppets Village—where stories come alive, lessons are learned, and every child is part of the adventure!
