I believe the purpose of life is spiritual and the pattern of its development is a progressive spiral toward the universal. Spiritual energy is the force active in all life; accommodating both positive and negative experiences as a means of growth. As an example, the commandment not to kill, at one time, applied only to fellow tribesmen. While people continue to kill each other, our understanding

of the commandment is more inclusive. Cycling through this spiral we find variations on repeating lessons and the need to reclaim positive attitudes that had been lost. We are tempering our desire to master nature with the need to care for our environment. The spiral pattern is also recognizable in individual growth, as the microcosm embodies the macrocosm. Shape and texture, biomorphic in character, describe the movement of energy. Developing out of an expressionistic tradition, I experiment with different painting surfaces. The combination of technique and surface creates a distinctive character to each piece, allowing shape and texture to develop and suggest a theme.

Interior designers often talk about sightlines. They're the natural path your eye travels when you enter or move through a room.

Most people never think about this consciously, but they feel it. Art placed directly in a sightline changes a room immediately.

Placement is as intentional as the work itself.

A lot of people hold off on collecting art because they rent and feel uncertain about committing to walls they do not own. But art does not belong to a wall. It belongs to you.

Renting is not a reason to live with bare walls. It is a reason to collect work that matters enough to keep moving (and growing) with you.
