One thing I already LOVE about the Mountain Oyster Club show…I varnish my pastels. Some shows require an artist to cover all pastels with glass or acrylic. I understand why, but since I varnish mine I’d like to be able to have the option on this decision. Well Mountain Oyster gives me that option!! WAOW gives us the option also! I keep hoping someday that all art shows will. So my “Hotshod” will be going to this show in all its naked glory!!

I’m so blessed! I received an invitation to submit for a chance at being published in the Nov/Dec edition of Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine. I wasn’t going to enter but something kept telling me to give it a try. So I did, on the last day for submitting. Lo and behold, look what I received today!!!!
Many thanks goes out to Streamline Publishing, Dave Bernard senior marketing specialist, and Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine! Thank you all!

So, the drawing on the left was rejected by two different shows recently. I decided to play with it before I chunk it in the dumpster, because I really like the subjects. I’m learning this art thing as I go along so it’s hit and miss a lot of the time. It was originally a varnished pastel, so it’s hard to keep the new colors on top even though I sanded it. With pastels that you varnish the dark background will erase lighter colors you try to add on top. So here’s my progress so far. I’m getting rid of a lot of the green and the pink shirt. Let me know if you think it’s worth it or if I should give up and move on. Ignore the reflection on the right.

Mounted on board and varnished, just waiting on the frame.
