On June 14th, Scott and Roxanne Jeppesen, Mike Leslie, and I will be joined by LA jazz players Ian Vo, Josh Aguiar, and Gary Fukushima for a 4 PM hit at the Cikan House. (We all will have played the night before in Billings at Lockwood Performing Arts Center with the RMJC, check it out, a big band performance that should be big fun.) Club Flamenco at Tun Up Bar on Friday, May 29th, 9:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
The members of Club Flamenco deliver a style of music not often heard in the state of MT. Fusing the traditional rhythms of Flamenco with accents of American jazz. The band plays selections that are both familiar and refreshingly new to American audiences. Band founders Geno and April Kreis play lead and bass guitar. Percussionists Chrysti Smith and Doug Wales weave a tapestry of rhythms supporting the dialect. Flamenco dancer Nicole Loya brings the style to life onstage with traditional costume, castanets, and palmas, the hand-clapping rhythms essential to the sound of Flamenco.
