Thunder never lasts
So hold on, don’t you worry
The sun is coming back
I don’t process the world in exact timelines and perfectly rational event progressions.
It’s more like shapes and colors and frequencies.
I’ve mentioned it before, I don’t often enjoy going back into my past. There are formative events that have haunted me throughout the years. Specters crowding my shadow, seemingly regardless of my attempts to distance myself from their shade. This year in particular, some shadows have grown teeth.
Like a horrible current, the darkness again has been rising. Sly insidious hooks that I thought I had warded myself against have been finding purchase lately. I don’t like it. Hooks tearing small holes in my identity like sails torn by storms on a boat that has been sailing in unknown waters for far too long.
Fly Free is still my beacon in the tempest. I don’t know who wrote this, but as always, thank you. Thank you for your friendship. A thousand tiny touches of people consumed by their own chaos. People fighting many wars on many different fronts. Thank you.
The bastards haven’t bested us yet.
See you in the dawning. The sails will hold til then.
