Hey everyone!
Sorry it’s been so long since you’ve heard from me directly, but quite a few things have been going on. (You may know that I've been working through cancer treatment and recovery.)
Let me start with this. I am in remission!
It feels great to be able to say that. I’ve been holding off on saying it publicly for a while. It may seem silly, but I didn’t want to jinx anything. I’ve been in remission for a while now and my doctor feels confident that it’s going to stick. That is the really great news!
Here's my other news: For at least the near future, I am not going to be doing any more bubble shows. It’s really tough to say that, but part of my treatment has left me with some physical limitations that make it challenging for me to do the show. Also, my lymphoma was localized to my sinuses and inflammation could potentially trigger a recurrence. So those two or three infections that come from all the different places Mike the Bubble Man went? I can't really risk that now.
Does this mean I will never be Mike The Bubble Man again? I can’t say for certain, but I know it’s not going to be for a while, so I wanted to make sure to let you all know that.
I also wanted to take the time to say thank you SO MUCH for letting me be Mike The Bubble Man for 20 years. It was such a great ride! And to be able to do this for so long that kids I performed for 20 years ago actually grew up and brought their kids to one of my shows--that's a blessing I never expected and can hardly describe with words. Thank you for letting me have so much fun! Sometimes I still can’t believe that making bubbles has been my job all these years!
Until we see what the future holds, I’ll miss you, I thank you, and please stay bubbly!
