I’m going to miss performing in Silent Night at Florida Grand Opera more than I can say. It’s a piece that stays with you — the story, the music, and the extraordinary people you get to share the stage with. Being part of this production at FGO these past weeks has been incredibly meaningful, and I’m grateful to the entire team and my fellow castmates for creating something so special together.

A few reviews that meant a great deal to me and to all of us involved:

“As the French barber Ponchel, Elliot Madore was luxury casting. Previously heard as the protagonists of Jorge Martin’s Before Night Falls and Mozart’s Don Giovanni at Florida Grand Opera, this veteran Met baritone was a poignant scene stealer.” — South Florida Classical Review

“In a class of his own was Elliot Madore, as Audebert’s aide-de-camp, Ponchel — a crucial character whose pointless death near the end underscores the futility of war. With his gorgeous baritone sound and strong stage persona, Madore achieved the most vivid individual characterization — notably in his aria of reminiscence about drinking coffee with his mother.” — Palm Beach ArtsPaper

A quick update on what I’ve been up to lately…

I’ve been performing the role of Ponchel in Silent Night with Florida Grand Opera. It’s been an absolute privilege to be part of this incredibly moving production, working alongside a truly world-class cast and an opera company led so wonderfully by Maria Todaro.

A huge congratulations to this extraordinary cast and to the fantastic orchestra under the baton of Christopher Allen. Kevin Puts’ writing is imaginatively beautiful yet deeply grounded—especially given the weight of the subject matter.

There’s a line from the opera that has stayed with me: “I understand. I think we’re all afraid we’ll forget.”

As we tell this story, I’m reminded of the countless lives lost in World War I, and I’m grateful to play even a small part in helping carry their memory forward.

An absolute joy to perform L’Enfant et les sortilèges with the this weekend. Bringing the Cat and the Clock to life was such a rewarding experience, made all the more special by sharing the stage with my wonderful friend and colleague, who sang an incredible L'Enfant.

Grateful to the orchestra and all involved for creating such a beautiful collaboration. Moments like these remind me why I love this art form.

I’m beyond thrilled that Known to Dreamers, our recording with Centrediscs in collaboration with the Canadian Art Song Project, has been nominated for a Juno Award! This album celebrates Black voices in Canadian art song.

It’s an honor to be a soloist alongside such incredible artists, and I’m deeply grateful to everyone who made this project possible.

What an unforgettable weekend singing Frank/Fritz in Die tote Stadt with the incredible
Korngold’s cinematic score is nothing short of magic, and bringing this beautiful music to life alongside Maestro Andris Nelsons and this phenomenal orchestra was a true privilege. Huge gratitude to my amazing colleagues and everyone who made this production so special. Boston, you were amazing! Until next time! 🎭🎶
