I was on a panel after my book, All We Had, came out, and someone asked me what my favorite book was. Without hesitation, I said, Dog. Go! written and illustrated by P.D. Eastman. The audience was filled with uber literary types, and of course, they all thought I was joking. But NO. This is literally my favorite book. And this is my childhood copy of it. No matter how many times I read that book, it was always wildly engaging—and even though I knew the ending, it somehow always came as a wonderful surprise. I treasure this book for how it consistently sparked my imagination.
