Overcame

Life been hard on me
I won’t let my trauma define me
These trials and tribulations
Brought stormy days
For God is by my side
So going through a storm does not bother me
I’ve been tested
I overcame every obstacle
All I can do is smile
Grateful to be alive

Your Happiness

I wanted to see you happy
So I decided to let you go
I knew that other man could make you happy
I didn’t want to interfere
Watching your life from a distance
I guess things did not play out like you wanted it to
I wanted to be your peace
I took some time to heal
I been smiling ever since your departure
I tapped in to who I was destined to be
Your energy was draining me
Thank God for helping me see you was not good for me

Dying Internally

Drowning in my pain
Nobody cares when you’re feeling down
Get your kicks in
I’m not even mad at that
I won’t be down forever
You can keep your helping hand
I’ll deal with my problems on my own
Can’t give you the right to say you helped me overcome anything
I’ll suffer quietly
Before I ask anyone for help
I have been knocked down plenty of times
I always get back up

Mistakenly Letting Me Live

Thought I was a blessing
Turned out to be a curse
Won the race
Just to be a disappointment
Should have aborted me
Now live with this mistake
Soon as you pushed me out
You had time to suffocate me
Thought I was something special
Turns out I was a disgrace to you
Overcame every obstacle
You were never happy for me
Plenty of times I let you down
I know that made you smile
A perfect disappointment
You don’t have to pretend to be proud of me
