This is a read but 💯 how I feel about the paranormal community these days.
The paranormal community has reached an interesting juncture. Years of bu****it are finally catching up and no one seems to know what to do with themselves.
Investigators became “influencers” concerned only with clickbait directing you to buy expensive equipment from their online stores. Thumbnails are close-ups of shocked faces and videos strewn with screams of “Oh my God!” at even the tiniest noise or action or not to mention teams so concerned with how many followers they have.
When investigating doesn’t work for you and no one knows you exist, just become a psychic and invent your own history, and you’ll have a following overnight.
Conferences and conventions are filled with teams and people who hate each other, who need to be polite and fake in public, but would stab each other in the back (or while looking you directly in the eyes) to get even one ounce of fame.
A major tour company, of which I firmly believe most of their massive following is bots, is moving into every major city and historic town in the country and encroaching on long-established small business ghost tours. These have been pillars of the community for years, introducing visitors to history in a creative and creepy way. There are reports of stealing locations, physically blocking tours from accessing their legally assigned spots on the street, and even hiring people to write defaming reviews.
The masses are also slowly realizing how full of s**t the Warrens were. I don’t know how it took this long. All one has to do is read any of their case files (specifically Amityville) and you can tell they were two of the greatest frauds who ever lived, not to mention Cody And Satori Hawes with there F.R.A.U.D method that no one wants to speak about bc Jason is the father…
This is why we do not collaborate with other paranormal groups with evidence. It is not because we are better or don’t like you, but we want to have control over our findings. We will collaborate on history projects and folklore. We’ll sit down and do a podcast with you and discuss the field. We have friends in several groups. But when the presenting of evidence is involved, I don’t want the headache. There are too many people doing this for the wrong reasons.
The tipping point has been reached. There has never been so much animosity.
