Dear Boise, we miss you. We promise it wasn’t you, it was us… and while we don’t have a change in our relationship status, there is something exciting and new on the horizon.

When Red Light ended it wasn’t the final curtain for a lot of our performers and tech team. In fact, the production staff has been busy planning for the last year and formed a new company called Dream Team Variety. From the ashes comes something new and the first show titled Pheonix hits stages in just 1 short month at the VAC. You’re going to recognize many of the same performers that earned your screams on Red Light stages and enjoy a production quality that your favorite tech team constantly delivered.

Look, love is complicated and its ok to fall in love again. What we had will always be special, but damn…. This show looks good!

Dearest best audience ever,

We come to you today with a message of transition. Its no secret that performances have become a great deal more difficult to execute recently and the landscape that we have enjoyed ever since our inception is changing. It’s with a sad, yet full heart that we must announce that the Red Light Variety Show has performed its final show.

Ultimately every group of performers wants to tell an honest story. With your help, we’ve been lucky enough to tell a narrative of expression and body positivity that provided a connection far deeper then any of us ever expected.

Boise has always been a very special place that nurtures creativity and we are so grateful to have experienced this welcoming audience for the better part of 14 years. We prided ourselves on providing a fully immersive theatrical experience where the details mattered and the production value exceeded expectations. Your experience was so important to us and as the lives of our performers and the circumstances of performance have changed, we find ourselves ready to take our final bow where we can become the audience to the next great group of Boise performers.

Thank you to past performers, founding members, guests, sponsors, and tech crew for building the foundation upon which we could dream a new version of what is possible.

Thank you to the Visual Arts Collective for giving us a place to grow, championing artistic expression, and providing a stage to call our home.

Finally, thank you to our audience from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you for cheering us on while we showed you a vulnerable side of ourselves. Thank you for riding the electricity and connecting to our particular form of weird. Thank you for giving us a chance and please take that chance again with one of the many uniquely diverse performers and performance groups that call Boise home.

From our t**s to our toes its been an honor and we love you.

Ladies and Gentlemen, friends and fans, the Red Light Variet Show can't wait to get BACK ON STAGE but first we need your help making sure there's a stage to go back to. The Visual Arts Collective, our home, is about to fail but we can save it!

The VAC has been incubating local art and music for over a decade and because of covid it needs our support. Countless performance artists, visual artists, and musicians have found a safe space inside its walls and to lose it would be to lose a piece of what makes this community so special.

Red Light has always been a body positive variety show that seeks to inspire self love and joy for the bodies we have. The VAC fought specifically for organizations like ours to be able to express ourselves artistically by showing as much or as little body as we would like. Please take a minute, spare what you financially can, and help us save this art and cultural incubator for our community.

Consider what you would have spent to see our last 2 canceled shows ($25 each) and please donate that or whatever you can to make sure that this vital community asset will join us as Boise continues to grow.

We want to come back and perform for you! Please make sure there's a stage for us to bring our pasties and thongs back to.

This place is pure magic. Please help us save it. The Visual Arts Collective has been closed for over 6 months and without community support risks perminant closure. Please pitch in to ensure there's a stage for you to enjoy, and us to go back to.

So many people have stepped up to support this incredible space. Were getting closer to saving the Visual Arts Collective but still have a long way to go. Please help us save our home and do your part to ensure that musicians and performance artists have stages to perform on when its once again safe to do so.
