Art really does take you places you don't expect 😅 Never in my life have I drawn a snail before this piece, but I got to a certain point and suddenly ALL I could see was two snail shells staring back at me.
So I went full snail-nerd mode and spent a half day studying snail references and doodling their little faces, and then these little guys were born 🐌✨
I'm genuinely so happy with how this turned out. Now I just need help naming it because my brain keeps offering up two very different vibes:
"Disco Snails" (shout out Vulfmon and Zachary Barker 🪩)
or
"Cosmic Snail S*x" 🤭😝

Progress made from yesterday!
If you saw my previous post, you may have noticed some darker shading on the first piece I was working on. Well… that piece ultimately got scrapped. 😅 But I really liked some of those darker elements, so I wanted to carry that idea into this one, but this time using colored pencils so I could get some softer blending and transitions.
I’m really loving how glowy this one is turning out. 💙
One of the funny things about making art is that I almost never know exactly where I’m going to end up. It’s pretty rare that I can see a complete composition in my mind’s eye and then simply execute it. Most of the time, I’m just building it one pattern, one layer, one little decision at a time.
I have no idea what this one is going to look like when it’s finished… but I’m pretty excited to find out. 😁

I scrapped a piece halfway through, and I don't regret it!
Sometimes you start down a path and realize there are so many things you'd do differently that it's worth just restarting with what you know now. That's basically the story behind this one.
The piece on the left was my tiptoe back into gel pens. I liked where parts of it were headed, but the wonkiness kept bugging me every time I looked at it. So I moved on to the one on the right and now I'm so much happier with it.

Double sided earrings can be worn multiple ways depending on what look you're going for! I try to make each side different, but complimentary to each other so they look good no matter how your wanna wear them!
