I am looking to curate an exhibit (art, word, music, dance) in Blue Hill in August 2027 and am looking for 15-25 participants to share their stories and work with the community to translate into an art form that is meaningful to the storyteller.
Those who know me well, know that I practice from a narrative perspective and focus on the epigenetic transmission of intergenerational trauma; however, what if we shared the "light" and the positive attributes that have been passed to us from our ancestors?
Personal Example: I always had a very strong, magnetic draw (borderline obsessive!) to the early colonial architecture of Tidewater Virginia. I knew way more facts and information than the average architectural historian and did not learn til years later that this is actually part of my ancestry/own history in America dating back to Jamestown. Also, the very natural spiritual experience I have felt in Episcopal, Congregational/Presbyterian churches only to learn that there were many bishops, Anglican priests, and reformed pastors as great-great grandparents and ancestors. These experiences always felt very comfortable to me and there is really no specific explanation. I'm thinking it is the crossroads between the spiritual, an inquisitive mind, and epigenetics.
I now have to work with artists, musicians, and writers to create these experiences over the next three years into an exhibit.
I'd appreciate anyone who has similar experiences to share to reach out to me through messenger to help me understand your narrative. This will require several meetings over Zoom.
This is an exciting endeavor and a shift from the negative relationships we form between intergenerational processes and epigenetics into something of potential growth and healing.
