Do I love shows?
Quick answer, NO.

I’d rather be dancing. 💃 🕺

Shows take a lot of energy.
Small stresses add up fast, and it can get overwhelming.

What I do love is inspiring.
Some of the conversations I get to have are golden. 💛

Over the years I’ve learned how to hold my energy.
Protecting my battery bank as I can be drained easily. 🧛‍♀️

This weekend is my last show at Naples National Art Fair. Then a month off. A long exhale.

But lately I catch myself cringing a little when I hear the question:
“What’s your inspiration?”

Coconut Grove is a three day show.
I met Scott and Kathy on the first day.
They tried to describing their bedroom placement but I wasn’t getting it. It was just a few blocks down the street so I had a glass of wine with them and checked out the space.

One look and it clicked.

A long, linear headboard! The kind Restoration Hardware does so well, clean and architectural.
My piece needed to float right above it.

After hundreds of installs, you stop measuring.
You just know.

So I built the sculpture specifically for that space, using several pieces I had on hand. It was a great opportunity to show my process during the show on Saturday. People were really intrigued.

Placing the piece was emotional.

Honestly… one of the most perfect bedroom placements I’ve ever done.

Last year, Carla and John saw my work in Bonita Springs, but they weren’t ready to collect at the time, they were knee deep in a remodel of their home. This year, they returned with their house complete, a stunning, bold, contemporary interior ready for sculpture. When I visited, the space took my breath away, bold and clean, a perfect place for art to shine. They are health-conscious, grounded, and full of intention and while their budget was a bit tighter as they prepare for marriage and finishing major exterior projects, we found a way. I offered them a smaller piece to start, one that we can grow over time. I plan on adding more layers to their piece over time. Im so excited to see how this piece evolves in their home and their life.

Mahar Residence – Naples

Last summer they reached out unexpectedly, sharing images of their new home and their timeline.

After my New Year’s shows in south Florida I drove north and — they were driving south after welcoming a new grandchild, We arrived just hours apart.

The house was brand new. Open. Full of possibility. But there was one wall that needed something substantial.

Earlier in the winter, I created the longest elongated piece I’ve ever made — so expansive I had to structurally reinforce it to travel safely.

When we placed it here, the room shifted instantly.

It didn’t decorate the space.
It grounded it.
It became the emotional center of the home.

The right piece doesn’t fill a wall.
It completes it.

This is what I think of when I think of Miami.

My clients flew us in to follow the shipment of their newly commissioned sculpture.
We installed the piece just before sunset.

Then we celebrated.

Drinks in hand.
Good Cuban food.
Life stories and dreams.
Laughing until 3am.

Not a rush.
Not a grind.

Just art finding its home… and life being lived around it.

That’s the Miami I remember.

And the one I’m coming back to.

Five years since I’ve shown work in Miami.

Burnout.
A pandemic.
A full reset.

I got healthier. Slowed down. Listened.

The work changed as well.
Refined, quieter, more honest.

Now I’m coming back. Only for this year. Hopefully the magic is still there.

New pieces.
Steadier heart.

Miami, see you soon.
