This painting has seen so many layers, I can’t even count. That’s just how it is sometimes. Each layer adds to the richness and history of the canvas. You can’t see them all, but you can feel them and sense there is so much more than meets the eye - like life…like people.
I haven’t named this one yet. Heck, I might not even be done with it, or better said - it might not be done with ME yet. It’s a big one at 30“ x 40”. It has some of the yummiest marks and textures I have ever created. Any name suggestions out there?

I have such a deep nostalgia for cattails…it’s one of those drifting, hazy memories that resides more in the feeling of a thing happening than a visual memory of it. My mom is taking me somewhere near a pond or lake near Livermore to gather cattails. It’s like a treasure hunt, and I feel so special to be alone with her on this quest. I’m happy and alert to be on the lookout while she drives her convertible VW bug, top down. We find some, and I love the fuzzy feel of them. They are so strange and beautiful and represent a moment of happiness on a summer day, an exclamation point that everything will be okay. I’m 6 or 7 or 8…

This one has found its forever home. ”Guided” took me years to complete. There are several other paintings beneath that I kept working on and pushing the boundaries of, and it kept evolving. There was so much push/pull and deep calling with this one. I could just feel that something else, something more was being asked of me. The process of this piece reflects the name and LIFE. Saying it took years, by the way, doesn’t mean I actively painted for years. But I WAS deeply engaged with it for that long. I sat with it, spoke to it, asked it how I could be in service - you know, regular painterly small talk. :)
My favorite size - 36 x 36”; acrylic on canvas.

When I got the keys to my new studio space in downtown Blaine, I sat in there and felt the fullness in my Being that this dream had come to fruition. It felt so amazing that I had this space where I could be free to explore my creativity, my depth, my edges. I grabbed this large canvas and out flowed “At the Edge”. This piece has so much depth and layers, which are best seen in person. It really is a lovely, dreamy piece that resonates with my love of this beautiful area - the water, the marina, and the surrounding mountains. If you’re local, come on by and see it.

“A Joyful Noise” has found its forever home. I miss this painting, actually, but am really happy for the couple who bought it for themselves in celebration of their 40th wedding anniversary.

This one is bright and delicate, yet bold. I felt so joyful and full of light while creating it, and that was the sensation the couple had when they saw it.

Working on this one too… 18 x 40” acrylic on canvas.
