TAKING LAKEFRONT LIVING TO THE EDGE. ☀️

When you're building on Lake Martin, outdoor living deserves just as much consideration as what's happening inside the home.

At our latest custom home project in The Heritage on Lake Martin, we're bringing an extraordinary outdoor living space to life alongside our partners at Solace Pools & Outdoor Living.

The design includes an infinity-edge pool and spa, a tanning ledge, integrated lighting, and a beautiful quartz aggregate finish—all thoughtfully incorporated into the home's architecture and waterfront setting.

Right now, it's excavation, forms, and steel. But the renderings offer a glimpse of what's coming: multiple outdoor entertaining areas, seamless transitions from the home to the pool, and uninterrupted views of Lake Martin.

This is what building custom is all about. Planning every element of the home and property to work together from the beginning.

Follow along as this one takes shape.

🏡 Another custom home taking shape at Five Oaks!

Lot 4 is officially under construction, and we're excited to see this home come to life for our clients!

One of the things we love about Five Oaks is the location. Tucked away in Vestavia Hills near Life Time Fitness, this small, exclusive neighborhood offers something that's getting harder to find: generous homesites in an incredibly convenient location.

And we're down to ONE LAST LOT!

🌳 Nearly ½ acre with relatively flat terrain
🏡 Plenty of room to design a home around the way you live
🚶 Walkable to nearby parks, shopping, and restaurants
🚗 Just 5 minutes to Grandview Medical Center

Lot 6 is the final opportunity to build a custom Centennial home in Five Oaks.

If you've been thinking about building, we'd love to show you the property, talk through your ideas, and explore what's possible.

Because the best part of building a custom home? Getting to make it all yours before the walls go up.

Beyond the Blueprints: What happens after you create your home on paper?

A custom home begins with plans, measurements and carefully considered spaces. But once those plans become walls, doorways and rooms you can actually walk through, there’s another opportunity to get the details right.

At Centennial, that means walking the home with our clients and contractors before the walls are closed—making sure the decisions made on paper make just as much sense in real life.

Which way should a door open? Where should your hand naturally find a light switch? How will you actually move through the space?

Sometimes the difference between well designed and well lived in comes down to just a few inches.

Our latest blog goes Beyond the Blueprints and into the details that happen between the plans and the finished home.

Because building custom isn’t simply following the plan. It’s knowing when to take another look.

What in the holy hieroglyphics is written on these fresh timbers? 😂

No, this isn’t an ancient scroll. It’s part of Centennial’s electrical walk.

Before the walls go up, we walk the home with our clients and contractors to make sure what looked good on paper actually makes sense in real life.

Which way should this door swing? Where should that switch go? Will you walk into a room and instinctively reach for the light switch… or spend the next 20 years feeling around behind a door in the dark?

It’s a small step in the building process that can make a BIG difference in how a home lives.

We sweat the small stuff now, so you don’t have to live with it later. That’s the Centennial difference.

Where We Build:
Birmingham • The Preserve • Five Oaks • Lake Martin • Smith Lake • South Oak • Your Own Lot

Have land? Have a neighborhood in mind? Have absolutely no idea where to start?
That works too. Let’s talk.

We get it. 😂

Here’s your reminder that wallpaper can be fun, sophisticated, unexpected—and very much worth the commitment.

Lot 9 is BRICKED! 👏 And she’s looking good.

Next up: sheetrock.

One of our favorite things about watching a custom home come together is seeing just how much thought goes into the details you’ll never notice once the house is finished.

Case in point: the cabinetry was actually drawn out on the foundation to double-check placement and make sure everything was exactly where it needed to be before moving forward.

It’s an extra step. It takes extra time. And it’s exactly the kind of attention to detail that keeps little things from becoming big things later.

And can we talk about this brick? The red brick paired with this elevation gives Lot 9 a completely different personality and really sets it apart within Five Oaks.

More progress coming soon!

Oh my gosh, this one is a BEAUTY. 😍

We know we say it all the time, but there is just something incredible about watching a custom home go from an idea our client dreamed up… to plans on paper… to a dirt lot… and finally to THIS.

Lot 15 at Five Oaks is officially at framing, and now we can really see this home coming to life.

The ceiling heights are an absolute standout, but honestly, it’s the overall size and stature of this home on the lot that gets you. It has presence — and it fits beautifully into Five Oaks.

Centennial Homes and David Smelcer have done a terrific job helping these clients take all those early ideas and turn them into a home that is going to be pretty spectacular.

And we still have a long way to go. We can’t wait to show you what’s next!

Have the lot? Let’s build the home. 🏡

You don’t have to live in one of our featured communities to build a Centennial home.

We build custom homes on privately owned property throughout Birmingham, Lake Martin, Smith Lake and surrounding areas—and the home can be designed around your land, your lifestyle and the way you actually want to live.

Already have plans? Great.

Just bought the lot? We can start there.

Have a Pinterest board with 427 photos and absolutely no discernible architectural theme? We can work with that, too. 😉

Our latest blog walks through what it looks like to build on your own lot with Centennial Homes.

There are two kinds of people.

People who walk into a house and think, “I can make this work.”

And people who immediately start moving walls in their head. 😂

If you’re the second kind, we should probably talk.

Building custom means thinking about how YOU actually live—from the kitchen and scullery to the laundry room, outdoor spaces, storage, finishes and all those little details you’ll appreciate every single day.

Bring us the Pinterest board.
Bring us the sketches.
Bring us the idea you’re not entirely sure is possible.

That’s where the fun starts.

So… about that empty spot in your backyard. 👀

We’re not saying it needs a pool.

We’re just saying that if you’ve been standing at the back window thinking, “You know what would look really good right there…”

Well.

We know a guy. 😎💦

Actually, we know the guys pretty well.

Our friends at Solace Pools & Outdoor Living can take that backyard from “we should do something out here” to custom pool, spa, outdoor kitchen, fire features and the whole "why would we ever leave home?" situation.

And if you built your home with Centennial, it only seems fair that we help you finish the backyard, too.
