Guess what, I’m back!

This summer was absolutely jam packed with things outside the house that I devoted my time to. I started boxing and now have a 3-0 amateur record, which I trained hard for and obviously took my time from doing my fiber work. I also spent so much of my free time horseback riding my own horses and a couple of young ones needing some miles for my landlady. And let’s not forget the concerts and random little adventures and side quests that I was able to embark on to keep me moving forward and out of the house.

Now that things “appear” to be winding down for the year, my creative brain is itching again and I was able to get a skein of yarn finished this weekend to kick off the start of Christmas projects. I think I’ll call this one “Sea Glass at Sunset.”

May need to experiment this…

This 12th-century CE sock, from Egypt, was knitted from the toe upward to the leg. Its heel was made separately at the end and attached to loops left during leg knitting. This ingenious practice allowed the heel to be replaced when it wore out without the necessity of making new socks

I ride horses and have the most difficult time finding socks that are tall enough for my boots and sturdy enough to be worn frequently. And having a little color that isn’t just plain white or black or grey is also nice. These took a little doing and I probably won’t use the same yarn or needle combo again because I’m not thrilled about the stitch spacing this go round, but I have nice strong, breathable socks to ride in
