studio neptune Sparking creativity in the lives of children by inspiring them with vibrant art projects and quality

Hey Studio Neptune Friends! It’s been over a year since Studio Neptune concluded its inspiring art education program but I’m back to offer another boost of inspiration to you right now. I’m sure some of you have reached voting age and so here’s an important message: please take your voting rights seriously. You belong to a large and influential group of Americans, young voters, who can help keep our country a place that takes our safety seriously and one that fosters kindness, creativity and love. Art flourishes in that kind of environment. Read about local candidates and learn where they stand on issues that foster inclusion and respect for all. Please pass this message on to your friends who may live far from the Bethesda community. Voting is a powerful way to say YES to our intelligence and humanity.

I am spending this week saying goodbye to the last classes of art students I will be teaching. It is a bittersweet experience.

For twenty-seven years I have been privy to an almost daily dose of innocence, wonderment and humor from people just starting out. What amazing company they have been. How fortunate I am. And I think really, most teachers who love what they do have this experience at the core of the hard work they perform everyday.

To all the kids I have interacted with in the name of creativity, thank you. To all the families who have understood the value of this kind of human experience, thank you.

I am a better person for absorbing the wisdom of so many talented, bright, funny and beautiful children.

My final year of operating Studio Neptune is here............

and when I'm asked to recall the most distinct aspect of running this amazing, happy, prosperous art program I think of this: that we all start out with the capacity to be delighted by making art. It's really a simple formula: a child's openness, the purity of an unmarked surface, the potency of a pencil, a crayon, a jar of paint.

Our willingness to let invisible ideas become visible images. Seeing what works and letting that stark and simple experience guide us as we grow.

Sign up now for the final sessions of Studio Neptune's beloved 26 year old art education program.

Hey there. I live in the neighborhood and always love the lighting of your sign at night. Snapped this photo the other eve when I was walking by. Thought I'd share it with you.
