Let’s clear up some misinformation that has recently been brought to our attention.
We normally choose to stay quiet, but because our family’s name and our business have been discussed publicly to multiple people, we feel it’s time to address the facts and have every right to defend our name.
About two years ago, we agreed to help by taking in a bull that two individuals had purchased but did not have a place to keep. We charged $160 per month to cover feed and care. Feed payments were only received for approximately seven months, and we often had to ask each month to be paid.
Several months later, one of the owners decided he wanted out of his portion. We purchased his share, which amounted to roughly 88% of the original purchase price of the bull. We later discussed selling the bull with the remaining owner and explained that livestock, like any investment, does not guarantee a return that covers every expense. Feed, veterinary care, and maintenance are ongoing costs that are rarely recovered in a sale. After caring for the bull for many additional months, we ultimately got rid of the bull.
In May 2025, that same individual asked us to do him a favor by picking up a horse from his family’s property and keeping her at our place while he finished school and prepared to move to Stephenville. During the approximately eight months she was in our care, we received one bag of feed, and he never came to care for or check on her.
In December, we contacted him several times because the horse, who was already an older mare, was losing weight and needed veterinary attention. We were told he was busy with school and to keep him updated. Sadly, later that month, she passed away on our property. We handled everything that followed, including her care and burial.
Later then to trust the kid again doing a business deal that we lost 100% on.
Recently, accusations have been made suggesting that the bull and the horse were “stolen.” Those accusations are simply false.
We have documentation showing our ownership interest in the bull, as well as records regarding the care and circumstances involving the horse. We have provided this information to the appropriate livestock authorities, who reviewed the matter.
We are not posting this to attack anyone. We are posting because our family’s integrity and our cattle business matter. When false accusations begin affecting our reputation, we have a responsibility to speak the truth and protect the name we have worked hard to build.
And anyone who knows being accused of cattle theft is a serious crime.
We wish no ill will toward anyone involved. We simply ask that people refrain from spreading rumors before knowing the full story.
As well as, when you ask a detective to “make sure we aren’t talking about you,” that you do the same when spreading lies about us.
Those who truly know us know the values we live by and the way we care for the animals entrusted to us.
