Meet Boulder native Nicole Jenkins, owner of Aer-o Studio 3 and stop #1 on the Berthoud Open Studios tour, 739 Mountain Ave. She studied Visual Communication at the Art Institute of Seattle and Industrial/Toy Design at the world-renowned Otis College in Los Angeles. After receiving honorable degrees and learning a plethora of skills, she moved to China to work with Hape, a German Toy Manufacturer, designing and developing sustainable toys and other earth-friendly, playful design projects.
Nicole approaches her life the same way she approaches her art… with a spirit for adventure and a childlike curiosity that is evident in her work.
Nicole’s current artwork is fueled by her love for industrial materials and found objects. Her line of industrial jewelry is both fun and whimsical. The aluminum rings are interchangeable with a variety of toppers made from found objects such as Legos, dice, odd k***s, and brass lamp parts that make for a fun fidget spinner. With different toppers to match your changing moods and outfits, you can express your playful side. . and make great conversational pieces. The necklaces are made from concrete and hand painted.
Nicole is also a local Graphic Designer who helps small businesses with brand development, marketing graphics and layout design. Email her at
