“Though the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway carries the legacy of the Santa Fe forward, with its modern innovations and steadfast commitment to excellence, the spirit of the Santa Fe still rides the rails, its legacy etched in every mile. The ghost of the Santa Fe will always overshadow, reminding us that while BNSF continues to forge ahead, the heart and soul of the Santa Fe will forever remain the best railroad in our hearts.”

“In the roar of the Warbonnet and the thunder of the SD40, the spirit of the Rockies lives on — two titans of steel and paint, Santa Fe’s crimson pride and Burlington Northern’s emerald might. Icons of a bygone era, they carved their legacy through mountains and time, reminding us that greatness doesn’t fade — it echoes down the rails.”

“For over a century, the semaphores at milepost 791 stood as silent sentinels of the Santa Fe—watching trains thunder past and sunrises paint the Bernal Curve in gold. Generations of railfans gathered here, drawn by the rhythm of steel and signal. On that final day, as a BNSF train rolled beneath their weathered blades, history quietly turned a page. Now the blades are gone, but their echo remains—etched in memory, where we still long to see them wave in the wind once more.”

“Embark on a journey through time where the iron horse still reigns! Witness the living history of the Raton Subdivision, a true museum relic where vibrant semaphore signals stand sentinel along the rails. For miles, the ghost of Route 66, also known as Highway 85, whispers alongside the track, offering unparalleled vistas and a profound connection to a bygone era. It’s more than just a view; it’s a moment to observe history in motion.”

Not everyday BNSF brings up the front and markers at the same time. Here we have BNSF 4350 bringing up the point of Amtrak 4. This is due to the lead locomotive failing somewhere between Gallup and Albuquerque. Amtrak borrowed power from BNSF in Albuquerque. Also BNSF Geometry car is on the rear of the train. Likely headed to Topeka for its final destination.

Amtrak 4 departed GLP when they got behind schedule. They kept loosing time between GLP & ABQ. They arrived into Albuquerque around 1pm, and once she got pow...
