We just took a quick trip to New York and had the chance to tour the Whitney Museum of American Art. It was amazing! Not quite as wonderful as Crystal Bridges—but really, what is? 😉 Sharing a few of my favorite photos from the museum.

My latest artwork! A smaller, crazier one that was so much fun to paint. Can you spot the little 🦌 face? She appeared all on her own. I think I’m calling this one “Morning.”

I did this one ages ago. I’m holding onto it for Madison while she’s at school.

This piece is my daughter, Madison, seen from behind, surrounded by things that have watched over her. To the left, a Native American figure faces toward her like a quiet guardian. On the right, the form can be seen as both an angel wing and a butterfly — protection, but also growth and the freedom to become who she is meant to be.

Hidden just beneath her hair is Noah, our old dog, almost disappearing into the paint. I love that he isn’t obvious. You have to look for him, much like the memories and people we carry with us even after they’re gone.

To me, the painting is about Madison moving forward in life while still being surrounded by love, history, memory and protection. The black and white makes it feel strong and almost spiritual, while the hidden images allow everyone to find something different in it.

She may be walking into her own future, but she never walks alone.

I’ve always said I can’t draw, but I decided to challenge myself and try something completely different. I built this little owl one layer at a time with lots of texture, deep greens, black, white and touches of gold.

He’s finally finished—and I think he looks pretty handsome displayed like this. 🦉 What should I name him?

Finished this fun little piece this morning. It started looking like a retro record player, so I just went with it. 🎶

I’m calling it Retro Ripple—although “Tunz” was a close second. What do you see?

(I also tried not to use turquoise but it was screaming turquoise-lol!)

Work in progress… This one started as me simply experimenting with colors outside my usual palette. Now all I can see is a record player—and I kind of love it. What do you see? 🎶💗
