I’ve played well over 50 nights between Discovery and Triniti since December 2024, and this past Saturday I finally had one of those nights every DJ hopes never happens.
Since Triniti is open on Fridays and Discovery is only open on Saturdays, I was in the DiscoTech at Discovery when my laptop suddenly decided I wasn’t me anymore. It locked me out because it thought someone was trying to access my account. Apparently after all this time, my own computer looked at me and thought, “This guy seems suspicious.”
So instead of playing music, I found myself making a 40-minute drive home to grab my backup laptop so I could reset my password, then turning right around and heading back. Somehow I made the whole trip in about an hour.
The part I’ll remember, though, isn’t the laptop acting like it worked for the FBI.
While I was gone, one of the owners stepped in and kept the music going until I got back. Nobody got mad. Nobody docked my pay. Nobody made me feel like I’d let anyone down. They understood that sometimes things happen, especially when you rely on technology.
That says a lot about the people you work for.
In a world where it’s easy for businesses to treat people like they’re replaceable, I’m thankful to work somewhere that treats its DJs like people first. After more than 50 nights between these two clubs, this was the first time I’d ever had a major issue, and they handled it with patience, understanding, and support.
I’m grateful to be part of the team at Discovery and Triniti. Thank you for having my back. It means more than you probably realize.
As for my laptop… we’re on speaking terms again, but I’m still keeping the backup close by.
