A message from the NWPO president on Giving Tuesday:
My sister does sales work that she approaches with integrity. She recently pointed out to me that, when you’re selling something, it benefits through meeting a need or enhancing their life. And that I should remember that. Well, Northwest Pops Orchestra benefits the community! How do we do that? It’s simple: We bring high-quality live music directly to people. There is no other professional pops-focused organization in the Pacific Northwest. In addition, we are particularly dedicated to performing what people want to hear through audience polls, so that audiences can hear what they want.
So much current music is consumed electronically or, if live, the performing group tends to be small. Professional orchestras tend to be expensive to attend, with travel required to a central location. Our goal is to be out in the communities of the Pacific Northwest, to meet people where they are to provide great music. Just think of an epic move and how important the underlying orchestral sonority is, and how rare that is to hear in person. We provide that soundtrack for your life.
Please donate, and then please tell us what you want us to play for you, and where you want us to do it. We’re just getting started! So whether you just have ideas to share, or want to volunteer for our board, we would love your input at [email protected]. Most importantly, we need your contributions to make something happen!
We have been fortunate to receive funding from wonderful arts supporters such as King County 4Culture, a government agency and a foundation. But it takes more than that. It takes support directly from the community. It can be a little bit from each person to make this magic happen.
One last note: We also support the creative economy. It is getting harder and harder for freelance musicians and other independent arts practitioners to make a living doing what they do, and yet artists are the soul of a community. So when you help us, you help continue the viability of those who bring the arts to you, as well as allow something to grow that you yourself can experience.
Please support us with your donation at https://nwpops.org/support. Thank you!
Sincerely, Kate Johnson, president, Northwest Pops Orchestra
