😿**Important message to our community**😿

It has come to our attention that a community member is taking free supplies from our pet pantry and selling the supplies on Facebook Marketplace.

While we understand that so many of us are currently feeling the pain of economic pressure, our hope is that our community would not take advantage of the limited supplies we are able to share for free. We ask that friends take only enough to get them through and leave some for others, and we ask that our community never takes food or supplies from the pantry to then sell to others.

Pet Pals Mutual Aid is not an agency, we are a simply a small group of community members who accept donated pet supplies from individuals (many who have relied on Pet Pals and want to give back), and we work to obtain donations from larger organizations, to help folks who may fall through the gaps of other programs to help support their pet for a period of time. All our supplies are always free to anyone who needs them, and the need is certainly great. Because the cost of food is impacting folks and donations are low, we have had trouble keeping our stock up, and we are currently entirely out of cat food and have very little dog food.

Our pantry and the message requests we receive are considerable, and often the pantry empties within minutes of our volunteers filling it- leaving folks who come by without pet food until the next time we have food and are able to share in the pantry.

The selling of our supplies additionally could hurt our future donations as we also obtain food from organizations with whom we sign a contract stating that the food we are given will not be sold for profit. The act of selling donated items could disqualify Pet Pals Mutual Aid from the program entirely- which would impact the community greatly.

We have empathy for people's situations, but hope folks will think twice about jeopardizing our work and the community we’re all part of.
