This installation art is from my time at Ohio University.. I screen printed all of the feathers on the wallpaper, the ground, my dress and the small feather pillows I handed out during the exhibit. The dress was handmade by me… & I’m glad I still have this dress. This earlier work of mine inspires me to design another dress & design a matching purse to go with it. 🦋🦋💯🌈

💛 I am grateful. For everything. I am especially thankful for my journey… I am blessed for being me. My name is Carrie & this is part of my story…🦋

I studied ART at Ohio University…. & had a focused on Painting and Drawing…

My desire was to learn & understand how to paint and draw a human face onto canvas….with oil paint.

I was blessed to share an art studio space with my artist friends 💜💜💜💜

I am now 31……& I have been drawing since I was a child…& I started with crayons…🖍️🌈💪❤️

Anyways….During my time at OU….I joined Alpha Delta Pi Sorority 💎🔷🔹💠 Going Greek was fun… it allowed me to stay focused…& we were philanthropic. We supported the Ronald Mcdonald House❤️🌞🎁

I found a home on campus with my sisters….

I also worked a job flipping pizzas & making subs….I loved my job.

I was promoted — & then ordered food for the regional campuses…

I traveled with two of the full time employees of OU— to those campuses… & worked as a barista😂 I made Starbucks drinks and it was funny. Great memories… thank you Danny and Kent…. ! You guys are awesome…..!!!

I am a PROUD BOBCAT.
I am a proud artist too.

My sisters helped me get thru a lot & 💜🦋💎 I treasure them🦋💓🎹 & we still stay in touch of course. Sisterhood is for a lifetime & we have a secret handshake of course… it’s ritual. 🙏🏻💎

Greek life is important because those relationships grow as we age…. ! I am thankful for my friendships with these women in alpha delta pi…..!

My Dog, Mandy, was the sweetest… she was a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog & she was all muscle 😂 homegirl was a tank! No one messed with us in our neighborhood because she was always on gaurd lookin out for my family & me ⚔️Her gentle soul left this place around the time I graduated from Ohio University in 2014💚 I miss her… This painting I made of Mandy reminds me of her true beauty 💛 I was the last person to look into her eyes💛 I Love you, Mandy 💛🐾

Carrie Kilgore

CARRIE KILGORE (b. 1991, Clearwater, Florida) lives and works in Saint Petersburg, Florida. She graduated with a BFA from Ohio University in 2014, with a focus in Painting and Drawing. Her signature large-scale oil portraits were influenced by Kehinde Wiley and Chuck Close.

Carrie creates oil portraits of other iconic artists that have positively impacted her life and studio practice. Frida Kahlo, Yayoi Kusama, Keith Richards and Lady Gaga are just a few of the artists that Carrie has painted. Her goal is to capture the essence of the individual. “I always start a painting with the eyes. Once they’re sunken into the canvas, you immediately begin to see and understand that person for who they are. And then I build out from there, and start piecing the face together. It’s a beautiful process to watch as a person comes to life on canvas.”

Carrie’s work has been collected nationally and internationally.

Her upcoming exhibit is in New York this September at the American Gold Cup Equestrian show.
