🎉 We are excited to share that the second $20,000 2024 Maryland Italian Festival Grant has been awarded to the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Nursing for the Shari L Simone Scholarship, presented by the Society of Italian American Businessmen.

This grant will support a scholarship in memory of nurse and UMSON alumna Shari Simone, who passed away unexpectedly on July 8. To honor Shari's legacy, the Shari L. Simone Scholarship will support students in the School's Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Doctor of Nursing Practice Program. Graduates of this program provide family-centered and culturally respectful care for pediatric patients with acute, complex, critical, and chronic illnesses across a variety of care settings, working closely with an interprofessional team to provide the highest level of evidence-based care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. Collectively, our hope is that her memory and legacy will support future generations of much need pediatric nurse practitioners. Those in attendance accepting this award were Dean Yolanda Ogbolu and Associate Dean Stacey M. Conrad from the University of Maryland School of Nursing, and Shari’s Family.
