Alden Farms and Eat The Rainbow Farm have opened, LOCALS, in the Stevens House in Poolesville, Maryland. The cafe and restaurant aims to celebrate community and good food. The location, in the Stevens House, is key to that sense of community. The house, which was built in the 1840s and is sandwiched between the John Poole House and the Old Town Hall, is a contributing property the Poolesville Historic District. The historic district, which consists of 33 buildings of local architectural and historical significance, was listed in the National Register of Historic Places - NPS in 1975. The Maryland Historical Trust and other National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers members work with communities to help preserve the places that tell their stories and provide a sense of community.
