My first memory of Dolly was around sixth or seventh grade, dancing to “9 to 5” in a school talent show with two friends. My mom made our outfits — pink satin with white satin trim — and somehow we even ended up with a huge pink shoe with a clock on it as part of our routine. 😂
That was my introduction to Dolly.
Through all the decades that followed, I kept listening. Whenever I came across those old performances of young Dolly singing with that unmistakable mountain voice, I’d stop whatever I was doing and watch.
I was captivated.
Today, seeing story after story and so much love being shared for Dolly, I kept thinking about what happens when a song truly takes hold of us.
It becomes part of us. And as long as somebody keeps singing it, it keeps living on.
So this came from my heart:
WHEN YOU’RE SINGING ALONG
You Can’t Bury a Song
A Tribute to Dolly
I wrote the lyrics and sang the song, then worked with my Ai studio to help bring the music and voices I was hearing to life.
I hope you’ll listen past the technology and hear the words. They were written with love and meant to bring a little comfort.
No, you can’t bury a song
When you’re singing along.
Shine on in peace, Dolly. ✨❣️❤️🩹🕊️🙏
We’ll keep singing along.
