August 20, 2021 (Baltimore) Given the concerns expressed by public health officials regarding the current level of infectiousness and the anticipated surge in Covid-19 infections, the Little Italy Madonnari Arts Festival has been postponed until next Septem
ber 2022. During the hiatus, the organizers of the Little Italy Madonnari Arts Festival have invited internationally acclaimed artist CarlosAlberto Garcia-Hernandez to create a permanent 3D mural on the wall of the Hospital Support Services building on Lloyd Street at Stiles to serve as the Eastern Gateway to Little Italy. Garcia-Hernandez will be in residence in Little Italy and will paint the mural during the week of September 17. The celebration will include live music performances by the Stone Hill All-Stars and a pop up jazz jam with The Worthy Brothers to be held on the Stratford University parking lot adjacent to the mural. In addition to Little Italy Madonnari Arts Festival, Inc. and Baltimore Jazz Alliance, sponsors of the event include Tru by Hilton, Hospital Support Services, Inc., Jonathan G. Willen/Vintage Affairs, Associated Italian Charities of Maryland, the Promotion Center for Little Italy and Little Italy restaurants. The Little Italy Madonnari Arts Festival is an annual 3-day cultural event that showcases elaborate chalk paintings created by artists directly on the streets of Little Italy.
