The Adroit Journal

The Adroit Journal Official page for The Adroit Journal. More info: www.theadroitjournal.org The Adroit Journal was founded in November 2010 by poet Peter LaBerge.

At its foundation, the journal has its eyes focused ahead, seeking to showcase what its global staff of emerging writers sees as the future of poetry, prose, and art. Recent contributions have appeared in the Pushcart Prize Anthology, Poetry Daily, Verse Daily, Best of the Net, Best New Poets, the Best American Nonrequired Reading (as Notables), NPR, and Teen Vogue, among others. Since inception, the journal has featured the voices of Dorianne Laux, Ned Vizzini, Laura Kasischke, Terrance Hayes, Lydia Millet, Ellen Bass, NoViolet Bulawayo, Diane Glancy, and beyond.

Congratulations to the winners and finalists of the 2026 Adroit’s Editor’s Prizes in Poetry & Fiction! ✨ Selected by Adroit’s editors, the Editor’s Prizes recognize outstanding work from mid-career writers.

The 2026 Editor’s Prize in Poetry goes to Sara Hovda, whose poem “Men and Starlings and Women” is “a transcendent self-mythology that unfolds in movements,” per Adroit’s Eugenia Leigh.

The 2026 Editor’s Prize in Fiction goes to Leslie Pietrzyk, whose story “Hyenas” evokes “the tumult and guilt of a family,” per Adroit’s Cherry Lou Sy.

The recipients of the Editor’s Prizes will each receive $1,000 and publication alongside our student Adroit Prize winners in our October issue.
