Turnstyle was Virginia's underground dance music specialists & vinyl boutique from 2003 - 2016 . The brick & mortar location on Broad Street downtown featured musical selections of house, breaks, techno, drum & bass & dubstep on 12” vinyl & CD. Streetwear fashions from established brands & upcoming designers for men & women were stocked & rotated. The shop was the 1st to feature live dj’ed music

, outside, monthly on the First Friday’s Artwalk. Turnstyle helped shaped the Jackson Ward area into a hip spot to be for the 13 years it was open. The shop was significant to the rise of the city’s Arts District & continues to be involved in the community today.
