Make your plans now to take a trip back in time to 1946 to be part of the live audience at the WBFR radio studio in New York City for their Christmas Eve holiday broadcast. With the help of a Blackfriars’ Theatre ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to life on stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve.
It's a first in the history of Blackfriars’ Theatre – a radio play. Telling a story that we are all so familiar with but in a unique way, as it would have been heard over the radio even before the release of the movie "It’s A Wonderful Life" nationwide in early 1947.
The dates for this fall production are November 21, 22, and 23. The radio broadcast will begin at 7:30 PM on Friday and Saturday evenings and at 2:00 PM on Sunday afternoon. Tickets will go on sale in early November. All advance sale tickets are $10. The weekend of the show the prices are $15 for adults, and $10 for students and seniors. Curley students have free admission with their school ID.
