The secret to a cutting board that lasts a lifetime? A little regular TLC. πͺ΅β¨
Wooden cutting boards bring warmth and beauty to any kitchen, but they do require just a bit of proper maintenance to stay in top shape. If you want to keep your boards looking rich and vibrant for years to come, keep these golden rules in mind:
π« Never soak your board in water and never put it in the dishwasher! Extreme heat and prolonged moisture will warp, crack, and dry out the natural wood fibers. Instead, simply wash it with warm, soapy water and wipe it dry immediately. Allow to completely air dry before storing it away.
π― Condition regularly: Notice how the board on the left looks dry and pale, while the right side is rich and protected? Thatβs the magic of our handmade S.P.I. Woodworks Wood Conditioner! Applying a food-safe oil or board butter every 4β6 weeks seals the wood, repels moisture, and brings out those gorgeous natural grain patterns.
