Walter’s not chewing hay…

He’s just standing there looking like he finished fixing the fence, changed the oil in the tractor, and is about to tell everyone how things were “back in the day.” 🤠😂

That little piece of hay hanging out of his mouth is giving off some serious alpaca hillbilly vibes.

I swear, if he tipped an imaginary cowboy hat and said, “Y’all have a good one,” I wouldn’t even question it. 🤣🦙

After a long, hot day working at the ranch, Marcus and I finally kicked back in our lawn chairs to enjoy a peaceful evening with the herd.

Apparently, Winnie Mae had other plans. 🤧😂

Marcus was sitting directly in the line of fire when she let out the biggest alpaca sneeze… and let’s just say, he didn’t duck in time. 💦🤣

Did you know? Alpacas sneeze for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it’s just to clear a little dust or hay from their noses, and sometimes it’s their way of saying, “Excuse me!” to another alpaca.

Unfortunately for Marcus… this one was delivered express. 🦙💨

Life on an alpaca ranch is full of beautiful sunsets, peaceful moments… and the occasional surprise facial. 😂💙

🎥 I checked the Ring camera to see what the herd was up to…

There was Gary, casually taking his afternoon stroll like he owned the place. 😎

When he got to the kiddie pool, did he walk around it? Nope.

He just strolled right through the middle of it like it was the most normal thing in the world and kept on going without missing a beat. 😂🦙💦

Gary lives life by one rule: Why go around it when you can walk through it? 🤷‍♀️🤣

As far as Tammy Faye and her ranch, they will serve the Lord!

💦😂 Gary may have stopped for a drink… but apparently he forgot he was wearing half the hay bale on his head!

I guess this is the alpaca version of walking around with spinach in your teeth. 🤭🌾🦙

Don’t worry, Gary… you’re still handsome. Even if your hairstyle says otherwise. 💙

✂️💙 Tammy Faye Baker got a makeover!

Our sweet, shy girl’s bangs had gotten so long she had to lift her head just to see where she was going… and more importantly, to catch a glimpse of her boyfriend, Walter! 😂🦙

Thankfully, a dear friend came to the rescue and gave Tammy the trim she desperately needed.

And just like that… she has a whole new look! I hardly recognize her. Now she can finally keep an eye on Walter again! 😍

What do you think—did Tammy rock her new hairstyle? 🦙💕

🍉 Winnie Mae’s first taste of watermelon… and we think it’s safe to say she approved! 😍

There’s nothing quite like watching an alpaca experience something new for the very first time. We offered Winnie Mae a cool slice of watermelon to help beat the summer heat, and she was definitely curious… then came another bite… and another. 🤭

Watermelon can be a fun, refreshing treat for alpacas when offered in moderation. With its high water content, it’s a nice way to help them stay cool during these hot summer days—plus it’s pretty entertaining to watch!

Do you think Winnie Mae is officially a watermelon fan? 🍉🦙💙

Some mornings, it’s impossible not to pause and simply say…

Thank You, God. ❤️

For another sunrise.
For this little ranch we’ve been blessed with.
For Gary, Walter, and the rest of our herd.
For the quiet moments that remind us how beautiful life can be.

As the sun rises over the hills and the alpacas peacefully graze, we’re reminded that the greatest blessings often aren’t the biggest—they’re the ones we experience a little at a time.

We’re so grateful that we get to share this place with all of you.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.” — Psalm 19:1

Wishing you a day filled with peace, gratitude, and a reminder to slow down and notice the beauty around you. 🌅🦙🤍

🦙 A Little Love Letter to Our Alpacas ❤️

One of the questions we’ve been getting lately is…

“When is your next Sunrise Alpaca Walk?”

The honest answer?

As soon as the weather lets us.

It would be easy to keep scheduling walks because they’ve been so popular. But that’s not why we started them.

We started them because we wanted to share these incredible animals with you in a way that was enjoyable for everyone—our guests and our alpacas.

Alpacas aren’t built for Bakersfield summers. They’re native to the cool Andes Mountains, and even early mornings can become too warm for them during extreme heat. When temperatures climb, so does their risk of heat stress.

So for now, we’re pressing pause.

Not because we don’t want to host walks…
But because we love our herd too much not to.

Our promise has always been that every experience at Blue Barn Alpaca Ranch puts our animals first. We believe happy, healthy alpacas create the best memories for everyone who visits.

The good news? 🌅

We’ll be watching the forecast closely, and as soon as those beautiful cool mornings return, so will our Sunrise Alpaca Walks.

Thank you for understanding, supporting our ranch, and loving these goofy, curious, fluffy animals as much as we do.
