Most hyaluronic acid never reaches the skin that needs it.

It sits in the upper epidermis, plumping up dry, dead surface cells. That’s why skin looks instantly smoother after applying it. But the dermis, the living layer underneath, stays under hydrated. Molecular weight doesn’t solve this. Without a real delivery system, hyaluronic acid stops at the surface no matter how small the molecule.

This is also why skin flooding works. Layering humectants and water again and again eventually gives the deeper layers what a single application can’t.

It’s also why hydration comes first in a peel series. Dehydrated skin absorbs acid unevenly, and that unevenness is what turns a peel into a rough recovery.
