‼️🚨HEAT & HUMIDTY MATTER🚨‼️
Because you’ve domesticated them to much in AC control; versus their coats, and health fighting cold and heat. Please, read throughout be aware it happens quick!
🌡️ When Temperature & Humidity Start to Matter
Many owners focus only on temperature, but humidity is often the bigger danger.
Dogs cool themselves by panting. When humidity is high, that cooling system becomes less effective because moisture can’t evaporate as easily from their tongue and respiratory tract.
General Guidelines:
☀️ Below 70°F (21°C): Most healthy dogs can exercise comfortably, though brachycephalic breeds, seniors, puppies, and overweight dogs may still struggle.
☀️ 70–75°F (21–24°C): Begin monitoring closely during strenuous activity.
☀️ 75–85°F (24–29°C): Increased caution. Frequent breaks, shade, and hydration become important.
☀️ 85°F+ (29°C+): Risk rises significantly, especially for working, sporting, overweight, senior, and flat-faced dogs.
☀️ 90°F+ (32°C+): Heat-related illness can develop rapidly, even during moderate activity.
💧 Humidity Above 60%: Start paying close attention.
💧 Humidity Above 70%: Panting becomes much less efficient.
💧 Humidity Above 80%: Even temperatures that seem “comfortable” can become dangerous during exercise.
The Rule: Don’t just check the temperature—check the humidity too. A 78°F day with 85% humidity can be harder on a dog than an 88°F day with dry air.
🐾 If you’re questioning whether your dog needs a break, they probably do. Prevention is far easier than treating heat exhaustion or heatstroke.
