Yeah, my kids will hate me while eating fresh paella on the back of a boat in the Mediterranean 😅🥘 🐟 But jokes aside, this mentality & the statistics around children's nutrition is a HUGE problem.
After cleaning dozens of kitchens .health the pattern I keep seeing is alarming -
Adults eating salads & protein bowls while their kids snack drawer looks like a gas station shelf.
Goldfish, uncrustables, fruit snacks from concentrate. Frozen nuggets on repeat.
Look I get it - kids can be picky, life is busy & these foods are designed to be EASY.
But look, here's what should make us re-examine priorities, time management & ditch the excuses:
🧠 1 in 5 children now have diagnosable mental health disorder - and research emerging directly links UPF consumption to increased rates of ADHd, anxiety & depression in kids.
🤯95% Increase in Type-2 Diabetes in children in 20 years. You GUYS. A disease that did not present in kids before this...
I'm not here to shame anyone, I'm here to inspire & help busy, overwhelmed parents.
Ingredients like industrial seed oils, corn syrup, added sugars (yes, even organic) dyes, flavors etc all trigger inflammation, disrupt gut bacteria & affect neurotransmitters responsible for focus, mood & behavior.
The meltdowns, stomaches, restlessness - that's the food talking through our children.
The swap doesn't have to be a fight or complete overhaul overnight.. it starts w/ reducing visibility & accessibility while encouraging new habits & introducing real food that tastes yummy without being scary.
