I took my shot mixing an 80's sounding record (In my opinion) and cross referenced with Cory Hart's "Sunglasses at Night" and Bruce Springsteen "Dancing In the Dark".
From my knowledge records were mixed at lower levels, these days everyone wants louder if its not louder is perceived as a terrible mix or something is off. Overall I'm happy how it turned out my mix is definitely louder and heavy on the lows, perhaps I could have brought some levels down but since this mix is for educational purposes only, I'll keep moving forward and grow from it.
