The revolution was televised. We stood for liberty and justice for all. We stood for the right to assemble and we did it in a peaceful manner. We stood for the freedom of speech even for those who are attempting to silence those with differing opinions. We stood our ground and we stood in defiance to violence. Let's not allow this momentum to be squashed because in the days to come another narrative might be spun. Scramble for a few news stories of a few in the crowd who did something wrong. The revolution was televised for all to see that we will never bow down to any king.

The truth is more jarring and to the receipts I'll bring. Let freedom ring. Let freedom ring for all the Latino communities who have been treated as cold as ICE. Let freedom ring for all the victims of gun violence at the hands of those who were just doing their job. Let freedom ring for those that speak up for the marginalized and are not afraid to be penalized while some stand there paralyzed. Let freedom ring for all people that choose love over hate everyday. Indeed the revolution was televised for all to see. But now we must make sure that this isn't just a faded memory. This is only one chapter in a book of stories. The revolution was televised for all to see now go spread kindness and empathy. Those are the stories that we should seek and they will end war and misery. For together we are undeniable but separate we are unreliable. For today it was for some a rattle and a hum but as the momentum gets louder and through all the white noise and static we shall overcome.

I know we love our Us vs Them mentality but seriously remember what politics were like BT - BEFORE TRUMP. I do but my kids unfortunately will never know and I for one kind of bums me out. They have grown up thinking that smack talk and name calling are what politics are. It is why we had all those Young Republican members feel so emboldened to say what they said in that group chat. Nothing is off limits anywhere in talk and debate. There was a certain couth in debate and politics BT and now I don't think we will ever get back there. A seismic shift where politics has just become another reality show but unlike all other reality shows: this one is actually playing with everyone's lives and we sit down and watch it all while getting the next popcorn bucket ready to ingest.

I wrote this poem during Presidente Naranja's first term. This is a snippet of a poem I called The Extinguished Fear.

So why is love so hard to do,
Why can't we love like there's no tomorrow,
Why do we question those that need to beg and borrow,
And put our needs and wants on a higher pedestal,
We have become flexible to the detestable,
We have become condemnable towards the ethical,
We have made the unelectable plausible,
We have crippled the health professional,
Bullied the trans and homosexual,
Silenced the amicable,
Exhausted the workable,
Intimidated the reasonable,
Tyrannized the sensible,
The likelihood of this changing is feasible,
As long as we all try to find something relatable,
Toward each other and only then will hope be attainable.

I have seen all of the videos about Charlie Kirk. I have seen all of the Lamentations ( although some seem fake) that Republican representatives have done in the last 24 hours. And here is an inconvenient truth...this was going to eventually happen to somebody. The constant us vs them rhetoric that we have engaged in for over two decades now. We have finally reached the boiling point in politics. So where are we to go from here? Prayers and thoughts are a nice and needed gesture that has held the dam in place for a very long time. But the death of Charlie Kirk has started to make holes and cracks in the dam and with Trump's comments on television that dam is about to burst. You see I don't like anyone dying from political violence whether that be MLK, JFK, Malcolm X, Fred Hampton, and yes even Charlie Kirk. There is no need for violence in the political or social arenas period. That being said what Trump said in his press conference was not the right thing to say at this present time. HBCU's have been threatened non-stop since those words were spoken by radical right wing people and have called in death threats to the family of the shooter as well. This is NOT the way. If we continue to go down this rabbit hole, we may never get out of it. So what will happen next is up to us. I do believe that some will use this man's death as a way to justify things that are about to happen in the next few months and years. The eye for an eye mentality has only just begun and this is the catalyst that was needed for these things to be not only set in motion but to be justified in the eyes of many Americans. Charlie Kirk was the sacrificial lamb needed for what's to come. It had to be someone who was a controversial figure. Now where do we go from here? Do we learn from our mistakes and try to heal this gaping wound that has plagued our land for centuries? Or do we declare war on each other like we ALWAYS do and how has that worked for us so far as a society? The thirst for blood will never be quenched as long as we have this us vs them mentality. There is only us. Them is a figment of our imagination due to unprocessed pain and unconscious biases. So what now? We take these things that have poisoned us and relinquish them from our society norms or we do what we ALWAYS do and be led around like sheep going into a slaughter. The choice is yours but through it all one thing still remains clear: WE SHALL OVERCOME!

Violence doesn't care whether you're left or right,
It doesn't care whether you're gay or straight,
It doesn't care whether you're a Democrat or Republican,
It doesn't care whether you're pro-life or pro-choice,
It doesn't care whether you're a white or black or brown skinned individual,
It doesn't care whether you are a good person or a total as***le,
It doesn't care whether you were a philanthropist or a disgruntled human always pi**ed,
It only cares that the color red keeps being stained in our towns and all roads lead to this violence,
If we continue to not stand up in defiance,
To the history of our violence.

We have always been a blood scorned country,
We imploded from within due to slavery,
And now we are doing it again through hate and blind allegiance to our party,
We allow hate to speak the truth and when that truth needs to be silenced,
We embrace it with freedom of speech which in turn leads to more violence,
The bloody cycle has continued for over two centuries now,
How much lower does the bar need to go?
How much longer are we going to condone this asinine behavior?
How many more children need to die at their schools?
Our thirst for blood grows every decade and this is the worst decade yet,
We have normalized Marshall Law in our cities,
We have accepted genocide in other countries,
We have justified rounding up people by any means necessary,
We have gone with the narrative that anyone different is beyond scary,
And should be thrown in prison or in a mental ward for life,
And yet we continue to be burdened by strife,
We need to stop this reactive clown show of a life,
And be more proactive and acknowledge our failures and maybe in due time,
This country will survive,
But if we continue down the trails of blood in our past,
This country will not last.

The time is now to take a stand,
Or will you continue to allow this to be a cursed land,
Stand united and strong,
For we can no longer be a nation that's headstrong,
For this is my American torch song.

If people would just stop hurting other people, our world would be better.
If an 11 year old gets it, how come grown ass men hiding behind their guns and law and order can't?
