Beyond the Barracks went above and beyond. 🇺🇸

My wife Cyndi and I had the opportunity to experience Beyond the Barracks, and I walked away genuinely impressed. This wasn’t simply veterans telling stories — this was excellent theatre.

The room was supportive, the venue was fantastic, and most importantly, the storytellers gave us a small window into their lives — with honesty, humor, vulnerability and heart.

Congratulations to everyone who worked behind the scenes to bring this together, and thank you to each of the performers who trusted the audience with your stories.

One thought kept coming back to me afterward:

Beyond the Barracks deserves to go beyond one night.

Stories like these deserve to be heard by bigger audiences, in more places, and for years to come.

If you haven’t experienced Beyond the Barracks, put it on your list for next year. I’m glad we did.

And always good running into a few friends from the veteran and entertainment community along the way.

Proud to support Beyond the Barracks at the Geffen Playhouse, featuring original monologues written and performed by veterans from across the branches of our military.

After a 10-week workshop, these veterans are taking the stage to share their personal stories with the community — and that’s something worth showing up for.
