The timeless American classic PICNIC comes to Austin this August. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, City Theatre proudly presents William Inge’s critically acclaimed stage play that captured the morals and pressures of a small town, sparking a revolution of freedom, awareness, and social consciousness that changed American life. A handsome drifter comes to town and a young girl must decide whether her fleeting encounter is worth altering the rest of her life, leaving all that she loves – and those that love her. Sensual, passionate, and delightfully funny, an endearing portrait about the line between family and self-reliance, restraint and desire. Presented at Genesis Creative Collective. August 18 – September 3. Thursday - Saturday 8 pm. Sunday 3 pm. Tix citytheatreaustin.org
